I'd also like to give special thanks to my secretary, Angelica Chan, for typing my thoughts onto this website. It's actually quite a coincidence that she was able to do this for me. She's a high school student currently taking Advanced Placement United States History who was working on a creative "Biography Essay" project for her class. I was looking for someone to assist me in publicizing the story of my life, and everything just worked itself out.

Comments from Angelica
"Hello to anyone reading this! I hope you've enjoyed my project on Sybil Ludington. I've been interested in her ever since I was a little girl first learning about Paul Revere's ride. I asked my teacher why a girl couldn't have done it instead, and she told me about Sybil Ludington. I've always wondered why she's not as well-known as Paul Revere. I think it has to do with a few things:
1) Paul Revere had ridden two years prior, so the novelty had probably worn off by the time Sybil rode; 2) Sybil's age, gender, and location in the country would have made the news travel less swiftly; 3) By the time Colonel Ludington's troops began their routing of the British troops Danbury had already burned, making the result of her effort seem less successful than Revere's; 4) The purpose of Revere's ride was to warn of British approach prior to the battles of Lexington and Concord, while Sybil's ride was to assemble her father's regiment. Perhaps the notoriety of the battles played a part in Revere's fame. In any case, I really hope you've enjoyed my project -- hopefully you've learned about this lesser-known American Revolutionary heroine."
